CAVA is proud to offer a rigorous full-time, part-time, and international curriculum which emphasizes Catholic principals while preparing students for the future ahead.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is facilitated by innovative, state-certified Catholic teachers. Colleges and universities recognize our curriculum, credit recovery courses and high school diploma. We are also proud to say that our school is the only virtual, Catholic school in existence which enjoys the endorsement of not only the Archdiocese of Miami but the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as well.

Our comprehensive curriculum is intended to address the individual needs and learning style of all students, making sure to meet them where they are academically. General, Honors, and Advanced Placement courses are offered to ensure that students are challenged in a college preparatory learning environment while meeting their individual needs. Our courses are spread over 9 major academic disciplines: Theology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, Physical and Health Education, Practice Arts, and Fine Arts.

While We follow an academic path that meets the high school requirements for the State of Florida; We have the flexibility to meet students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally by having the ability to create an academic plan that not only fulfills the requirements of any school around the world but allows the student to explore various areas of study enriching their learning process.

Fulfilling the Digital Learning Act

(Full-time CAVA students fulfill the requirement after successfully completing one CAVA course.)

On June 2, 2011, Governor Rick Scott signed the Digital Learning Act into law as part of House Bill 7197.

All incoming 9th-grade students in Florida must now complete one high school-level virtual course as a requirement for graduation. An online high school course taken in grades 6–8 fulfills this requirement. Students and parents should talk to their school's counselor if they are still unsure.

Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment is an acceleration program that allows secondary students, including home education students and students with disabilities, to take postsecondary coursework and simultaneously earn credit toward a high school diploma as well credits towards their college degrees.

High School Dual Enrollment (students in Grades 6-8):

Our high school dual enrollment program provides middle school students, in grades 6-8, the opportunity to participate in a rigorous, high school level program which will not only prepare them for high school but will also offer them high school credit.

Check with your school’s counselor to see which High School Dual Enrollment courses are approved by your school.  Students from Archdiocese of Miami school, in grades 7-8, who are interested in taking Algebra I Honors must sit for the IAAT placement test and complete the test with an 85% or higher as well as teacher recommendation.

College/University Dual Enrollment (students in Grades 9-12)

We are pleased to partner with St. Thomas University to provide our students with the opportunity to earn college credits while simultaneously earning their high school diploma.

NCAA-Approved Courses

CAVA offers student athletes a large selection of NCAA-approved core, elective, and Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses.

If you plan to attend college and play a college-level sport, it is important that you educate yourself on the requirements for eligibility. Meeting the academic eligibility requirements to play a sport at a given college is not the same as meeting the academic standards for admission to that college.
